VECCHIO MULINO,
BASSANO DEL GRAPPA, ITALY - 1997

The building is a XVI Century Watermill, on the Brenta River in Bassano del Grappa, Italy.
In the total respect of the historical elements like the roof and the seventeen windows around, the design shapes a modern, comfortable and technologically efficient home.
Trough the elevator and the stairs, the entry area is jointed with the reading room, and when the two Murano glass sliding doors are open, the two areas share the windows light.
The corridor, which connects all the rooms, is also the center of the home functions. Itself is equipped with storage facilities, a sequence of built-in closets and containers.
The kitchen, all custom made in maple, is a room inside partition walls which become glass panels before reaching the pine wood roof, to allow the visual continuity of the roof itself. Because of the small size, an eating table, also in maple, slides out from the base cabinet. The living room is divided in three areas: seating one around a fireplace in "Biancone" the local white stone, Dining table close to the built-in designed to contain a Galle`vases collection, and a surround sound TV corner.
The second bedroom is designed like a total separate room, with his own small entry area to access the room itself and the bathroom.
